Detailed information and variants

Details on the sizes
The belt straps can be selected in widths of 2 cm, 3 cm and 4 cm. 2 cm wide are perfect for women's trousers as a subtle accessory, but also great as a waist belt for a dress or a long blouse. 3 cm width is the standard width for women, however the belt is unisex and is also perfect for men's suit trousers. The 4 cm width is used in particular for men's jeans, but can also be used by women.

To measure your desired waist size, use a tape measure and measure where the belt should sit later (e.g. through the belt loops of your favorite pants). If you want a waist belt, you should measure accordingly there, resulting in a shorter length. If you don't have a tape measure at hand, you can use a piece of string and then measure the distance with a ruler/folding ruler.

Note: Please make sure that you do not state the total length of the belt, but rather the desired waist size (or waist size)! The finished belt strap will then be longer than the measurement you gave. Our belts also have 6 holes, we adjust the measurement you give to the point between the 3rd and 4th hole - so you can then wear the belt both tighter and wider (approx. 5 cm in each direction.

Style & Manufacturing of the Belt

The belt consists of a belt strap and a small leather belt loop. By choosing the width, the color and the desired buckle, you can put together the belt the way you want it. The clasp is fastened with two enclosed book screws and can be changed again in this way. The binding screws are supplied either in light gold (if you choose a belt buckle in light gold or yellow gold) or in silver (if you choose a belt buckle in silver or gunmetal). However, these are covered by the upper belt strap when the belt is worn.

Personalization Options

Personalize your belt with a monogram embossing and make it absolutely unique!

embossing

The embossing is applied to the leather during production. Letters are clamped into our machine, heated and pressed onto the leather with or without foil. The letters/shapes are approximately 8mm high.

Choose both the color and the position for the monogram embossing.

Please note that when embossing with foil (silver or light gold), we cannot guarantee that the foil will rub off after a certain period of time, as a belt is exposed to frequent rubbing movements.

When it comes to the position of the embossing, you can either choose the monogram near the tip or near the belt buckle. If you choose the latter, the embossing will then be hidden by the front strap when the belt is worn. This position is also great for a "hidden message" with up to eight characters.

Learn more about making your belt

How does it work?

Our DIY box is designed so that you can make your own belt without any previous knowledge of leathercraft. All the materials you need are included in the DIY box, you don't have to buy anything else.

The highlight of our DIY boxes:

The parts are already cut and provided with holes. This way we can guarantee that everything fits together perfectly and that you can make your belt by hand without any effort. When it comes to metal accessories, too, we make sure that we only use parts that can be attached without special machines and are still firmly fixed.

As soon as you have put together your DIY box, you will receive an e-mail from us with the order confirmation and access to the instructions and basic videos. You can then look at these in advance or when your DIY box arrives. And then you can get started!

Is the project suitable for beginners?

Our clear answer: YES!

Why are we so sure about that?

Because over 7,000 people have already made one of our DIY boxes and over 92% of our customers have never worked with leather before or have only done small craft projects.

If, contrary to expectations, you have any questions, our popular and highly rated customer support will be happy to help you. You can reach us Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. via email at hello@bagsandpieces.co.

An important clue:

This DIY project is perfect for you if you like trying new things and generally have a certain affinity for DIY and crafting. You don't need to be particularly handy, but you should still enjoy making your own and be willing to learn new techniques.

How long does production take?

The belts are an easy peasy project. It only takes an hour to make, or even 20 minutes if you don't want to polish the edges!

Where does the leather and the rest of the materials come from?

The vegetable tanned cowhide comes from a tannery in Italy. In vegetable tanning, the tanning agent itself does not use chemicals and natural products such as tree bark are used for tanning.

Full grain leather describes the highest quality part of a leather hide as the full thickness of the leather (in this case 2.8mm - 3.00mm) is used for the belt straps. The leather is available in three pigmentations: black, dark brown and cognac.

The other materials such as metal accessories and other supplementary items come from suppliers in the leather processing industry. We source these from all over the world but especially Italy, Spain, Portugal, China and France depending on where we can find the best product for your DIY box.
