Creasing is done with an edge creaser and manual heat (e.g. from a flambé torch or stick lighter) to create a  decorative leather is placed at a certain distance from the edge in order to have a guide line for the seam line that is subsequently punched. Unlike compasses and other spacing tools, the Edge Creaser also works on chrome-tanned leather thanks to the heating process.

Furthermore, the Edge Creaser can be used to "iron" edge paint with heat so that the different layers of edge paint bond together even better.
