Tool set for leather edge processing: base coat, edge paint, edge roller, sanding sponge

With this tool set you get a basic equipment for the professional edge processing of your leather project:

- 1 edge roller with rotating, roughened tip and wooden handle, length 17cm. With this tool from professional leather processing, you can easily and evenly apply base coat or edge paint to your leather work.
- 1 sanding sponge, for smoothing the leather edges when applying base coat or edge paint, 7x10x2.6cm, 180 grit
- 1x Base Coat from FENICE (water-based, approx. 40 ml in a screw-top bottle) for priming leather edges before applying edge paint - matching the edge colors. The base coat is applied in liquid form and then dries to a matt finish after a few minutes. The amount is sufficient for a large bag project or several medium-sized projects, for example. Color: milky white (neutral).
- 1x edge paint from the “Section Lacquer Top Matt” series by FENICE in your desired color (water-based, approx. 30-40ml in a screw-top bottle). The amount is sufficient for two larger bag projects or many smaller projects, for example. Color: as desired. The colors can be mixed together to match the individual leather colors. Alternatively, you can of course choose a contrasting edge color and use this as a style element, for example black or light taupe.

Edge processing ensures a professional finish and a particularly long-lasting finish for your leather projects. Applying edge paint and base coat is particularly recommended for projects with chrome-tanned leather or artificial leather, where the leather edge cannot be naturally polished by friction. This type of edge processing is particularly often used when several layers have been glued and sewn together and the edge as a whole is to have a uniform appearance.

Manufacturer: Base coat and edge color come from a well-known manufacturer in Italy (FENICE), which also supplies well-known luxury leather goods labels. The water-based base coat is particularly dense, so that just a few layers are enough to create a beautiful edge.

Recommendation for use:

1. Apply a thin layer of Base Coat to the freshly cut leather edge > Drying time 10 minutes
2. Sand the edge with the sanding sponge to smooth out raised hairs and bumps and to roughen the surface for the next layer
3. Apply another thicker layer of Base Coat > Drying time 30 minutes – 2 hours, depending on humidity and ventilation in the room
4. Re-grinding
5. Apply another layer of base coat or edge paint, depending on how uniform the edge looks in terms of plasticity > allow to dry
6. Loops
7. Application of edge paint > here it is possible to apply several layers of edge paint (sanding between layers), optionally the last layer can also be diluted with a little water to achieve an even more even result
